A minute with Marvyn Williams

This is a new feature I am trying. It will be a short, concise and snappy Q&A session with different personalities.

Marvyn Williams is a presenter, DJ and now a columnist for the best weekend supplement out there, Fabulous Magazine. I spoke to him earlier to find out a little more...

Can you still remember how you felt at your first audition?

My first audition ever was for a TV commercial. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, I even thought about lying on the application and saying I had an agent just to seem more professional. As it happens, I think by NOT lying, this was my saving grace. The audition went well after being asked to read a selection of lines in a number of expressive ways. The audition lasted about 20minutes and ended with the lasting question, "Do you have an agent?" naive Marvyn replied "no". Little did I know that they would exploit that fact by reducing the rate for the advert, arh well, you live and you learn!
What happens in your typical week?

Right now my typical week isn't exactly typical. I left the mundane 9-5 life when I decided to quit teaching to pursue other avenues. I'm spending my time nowadays by formulating ideas for my new column in Fabulous Magazine, DJ-ing around the world and pursuing the presenting career as and when possible. So a mixed bag really.

In one sentence describe what it was like to present at Clothes Show Live for two years running?

Great opportunity to impress, great experience with established presenters and a long hard week of work!

What is the most random thing to happen to you this week?

Its not happened yet, but it will happen on Sunday. I've been asked to play football for a HELP THE HEROES CELEBRITY FOOTBALL MATCH in Darlington which is going to be televised. I am playing against some ex-professionals e.g. Peter Beardsley etc football legends!
Random question: What comes to mind when I say Leeds?

Immense night life, quality music and 6 years of pure fun which has set me up nicely for a move to London....Oh and a "right, dodgy accent".

That went well.
